Mati Sipiora is a designer and craftsman, founder of an eponymous furniture brand developed within his family’s metalworking workshop in Czepino, Poland. His work combines contemporary design with traditional metalworking techniques, resulting in small-batch objects crafted entirely by hand. Holding a PhD in design, Sipiora spent more than a decade working in industrial design, with a particular focus on products for people with neurological impairments. He gained professional experience in Poznań and Berlin, where he worked in international design environments. His return to the family workshop marked the beginning of his independent practice, rooted in craftsmanship, material exploration, and a conscious approach to production.
Working primarily with traditional tools such as a lathe, hydraulic press, and welding equipment, Sipiora deliberately avoids CNC machining and automated manufacturing processes. His designs are characterized by minimalist forms, precision craftsmanship, and an emphasis on the natural qualities of steel. Among his best-known works are the Poodle Aemchair, and the Cosmic collection. His practice offers a contemporary interpretation of the legacy of his family’s metalworking business, which has been operating continuously for more than 30 years.
